25 Things You Didn't Know About Me

I have noticed on the web, Facebook and other sights that people are telling us 25 secrets we didn't know about them. These aren't juicy, jaw dropping, salacious secrets, just insignificant things we don't know. The truth is we really don't need to know. It's not as if we are learning something from these revelations that will benefit the human race. Well here are 25 things I would like to know so maybe someone out there can explain them.

1. Why is it now acceptable to steal someone else's spouse? There was a time in history when you were treated as the home wrecker you are. Shunned and stigmatized! Now you get your own television show, advice column, record deal or other business opportunities. Imagine that! You get credibility instead of ostracized.

2. Why do young men wear their pants so low? I have heard all the reasons and excuses about emulating prisoners, but I don't buy it. Pretty much every woman out there young and old agrees, it's disgusting and is not appealing. So why are they doing it? It's not for the ladies because we don't like it, so who is this display of your behind for? Yes, it is a display, an advertisement of the goods so to speak. With so many down low men trying to keep it undercover, I wonder if this is how they signal each other.

3.  Why are so many grown men behaving like teenagers? Baggy pants, hip hop gear, latest expensive sneakers, foul language, disrespectful behavior. So you don't want to grow up, life's too hard. Well get over it. You look so foolish and it's just pathetic watching a grown man behave like a child. Why are so many men over 30 still trying to be rappers?

4. Why are so many untalented people famous? There are a lot of people making millions of dollars based on nothing. Singers who can't sing, actors who can't act, rappers who can't rap and a host of reality stars who have no redeemable qualities.

5. Why are so many televangelists rich and famous? Most of these television ministries don't even remotely come close to teaching you about the word of God and how to live life to gain access to heaven, yet they're so popular. Most of them tell you to believe for whatever you want and tell the universe and it will be delivered. What a crock! If you study the bible you know that's not exactly how God works.

6. Why are so many people unhappy? We are wealthier than ever before in our country's history, with more options available to us than ever,  so why are so many people miserable?

7. Why are American children underperforming and out of control? Lack of reading, writing and arithmetic are just the tip of the iceberg. Social skills, consideration and manners are all on the decline. Kids tape themselves brawling, stealing, damaging property and all kinds of madness. Where are the parents?

8. Why are people obsessed with celebrities? I really don't get this one. Most of these people are intellectually challenged. Most should take some of their money and hire speech therapists or something yet we vote them into office anyway. Makes you wonder if we don't deserve what we get!

9. Why can't we find Osama Bin Laden? He's just one man, what is the problem?

10. Why are old people with wrinkles and bad skin selling beauty products? I think if you look like a wrinkled elephant, you should not be on television selling beauty products. Leave the deceptive practice of making people believe this stuff works to young beautiful models. At least we can dare to dream to look like them. FYI we know most of you have had plastic surgery.  It didn't work.  You look like old people who've had facelifts.  Your skin is tighter not younger looking.

11. Why are so many health care professionals fat?  How can you convince me to take better care of myself and diet and exercise when you look like a beached whale. Sorry but it's true.

12. Who decided that in order to use my coupon and get a dollar off, I have to purchase two of the same product? I don't need two, so why can't I have a dollar off of one?

13. Why do so many people choose to live in the past? This is especially irritating to me because they always want you to go "back in the day" with them. I don't mind reminiscing sometimes, but I have no desire to live in the past. I look forward to my future and a new day everyday. I am thankful that God has allowed me to be here and welcome his plan for me everyday.

14. Why are so many people never satisfied? It doesn't matter what they have, it's never enough. Husband, children, money, home, car, career, etc. It's not good enough. Why is being grateful for what you have so difficult?

15. Why isn't education the top priority of this country? Our teachers are underpaid, our children are underperforming and can't compete on a global scale, our parents are uninvolved, and our politicians are always looking to cut more. Could it be that children can't vote so they don't matter.

16. Why do so many people settle for less? Jobs they hate, friends that aren't really friends, lying cheating spouses. Why? I have been told in confidence on several occasions by married people that they never loved their spouse. They just felt like it was time to settle down, or I wanted children. WOW That sucks!!!

17. Why can't so many successful educated women find men? Hmmmm! I wonder! Maybe you're too demanding, or could it be you have unrealistic expectations. I am not suggesting that you lower your standards because you should have standards, but are they realistic for who you are?

18. Why has local and national news turned into Entertainment Tonight? If you want unbiased, factual, smart news you have to tune in to PBS, BBC or some other interntional news correspondence program. Why can't I get real intelligent news from the American media?

19. Why are parents afraid to discipline their own children? They're your children, if you can't handle it, what are the rest of us supposed to do with your kid. May I suggest you take control of the situation and stop making life so easy for them. You're not your child's friend, you're the parent.

20. Why is customer service so lousy these days? What happened to the customer is always right. Remember when you could speak to an actual person when you called a company. To get to a human now you have to hold, dial this number, press this button, enter this extension, etc., then you end up speaking to some idiot who knows even less than you do and can't help you.

21. Why is stupidity and ignorance revered today? As long as you are rich, famous or in a position of authority it doesn't matter how ignorant, stupid or wrong you are, you're celebrated. Why are so many people embracing this?

22. What happened to independent thinking? This has become the land of Monkey See, Monkey Do. Everyone seems to want to look alike, wear the same things, have the same things, and live the same life. Why?

23. Why are our elderly afraid of our youth? One of the greatest generations who ever lived, fought wars, marched for, were beaten and killed for Civil Rights, demanded Women's Rights, insisted on Voting Rights, kicked down the door to Corporate America and helped organize unions are now afraid. Why is this acceptable?

24. Why do the least intelligent breed the most?   Need I say more!

25. Why is it that every time you find a product you like and it works the manufacture decides to either change it or discontinue it? Who makes these decisions, probably the children of #24 on this list.

Where Have Manners and Consideration Gone on Public Transportation?

It occurred to me while riding the bus one day squeezed between two people who couldn't and shouldn't have tried to fit in the seats, that manners and consideration have been abandoned.  So I have decided to address a few issues that I find troubling and would like to get off my chest..

1.  There are days I literally could choke the person who invented cell phones.  As convenient and wonderful as they are, they are also a curse and plague on society.  I am SICK & TIRED of being forced to listen to people's personal conversations.  Most of these conversations are loud, stupid, obnoxious, ignorant, embarrassing and personal.  I do not want to hear about your cheating mate, selfish children, boss, sex life, illnesses, low wage career goals, trade school plans and most of all I don't want to listen to you spread misinformation and gossip.  The ones talking the loudest are usually spreading the least amount of factual information.

2.  Stop trying to squeeze into a space that you CANNOT fit into.  It is neither pleasant nor thrilling for you to prop your behind on me.  I understand you may be tired or want to sit down but there is no room for you.  It is not my fault that by the time you board, it's already crowded.

3.  The subway and buses are not your children's personal playground.  It is not the responsibility of the passengers to entertain and tolerate your children. If your child insists on looking out the window, please at least make sure that they don't put their feet on other passengers.  This may be a shock to you, but most of us would like to arrive at our destinations without your kids shoe print on our clothes.  Hey, if your kids are bored, encourage them to read and write.  That would keep them busy and teach them something they can actually use later in life besides how to be eternally rude.

4.  This city is not your personal trash bin.  Don't discard your used items on the platform.  Try using a trash receptacle.  They're in every subway station.  I see people just literally drop trash, water bottles, empty wrappers, uneaten food, etc. right where they stand.  It's disgusting!  Who raised you?  Animals!

5.  Please stop hocking and spitting on the floor as if you're in your bathroom.  Germs are airborne and the rest of us would rather not catch the bubonic plague from you.  Please just save that nasty little habit for when you get home to your family who love you and think it's acceptable for you to be a pig.

6. COVER YOUR MOUTH!  When you are sick, coughing or whatever, please don't give me your cooties!  I get that you can't always take a sick day, but for crying out loud, give the rest of us a fighting chance to survive.  Cover your mouth!

7.  Who told you I want to talk to you?  Just because I am in your path of sight does not mean I want to hear about your day, children, spouses, friends, family, job, politics or religious beliefs.  I don't know you and this may be a surprise to you, but I didn't leave my house this morning to meet you and hear about your problems or opinions.  Keep it to yourself.  I have my own problems and I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOURS.

8.  BEGGING ETIQUETTE - If I am ignoring you, it's because I don't care and don't want you in my face.  Don't try to intimidate me into giving you money.  It won't work!  Save your sad stories, most New Yorkers have heard it all.  We just don't believe you and need our own money these days.   You need to take your problems to God, because he is really the only one who can help you at this point.  There is nothing I can do for you and I would rather give my money to charity.

9.  You were not born to be the center of attention every waking moment.  Please save the attention grabbing tactics for your family.  They are the only ones who think you're cute and see the humor in your loud, arrogant, ignorant, insensitive, offensive behavior.  I don't think you're funny or cute just STUPID!!!

10.  To all you people out there who have multiple kids, baby strollers, large packages, shopping carts, picnic coolers and whatever else you can think of you drag on public transportation,  please consider using a cab or buying a car.  Yes you can afford it.  If you and everyone in your house can afford smart phones, designer clothes, manicures, pedicures, weaves, wigs, braids, wash and sets, jewelry, etc., you can reshuffle your priorities and buy a car or hail a cab.

With that said, you can probably tell I am sick of public transportation.  So I will gladly accept a luxury model 2010 Mercedes paid in full by any of you who are also sick of me.  Thank you.
